Antioxidant: It is a class of chemicals, when it present in only a small amount of polymer systems, you can delay or inhibit the oxidation process and the polymer, thereby preventing the aging of the polymer and prolong its service life, also known as "antioxidant."

Thermal oxidation of organic compounds is a series of free-radical chain reaction, under the action of heat, light or oxygen, organic molecules bond broken, generate reactive free radicals and hydrogen peroxide. Hydroperoxide decomposition reaction also generates oxygen radicals and hydroxyl radicals hydrocarbons. These free radicals can trigger a series of chain reaction of free radicals, resulting in the structure and properties of organic compounds fundamental change. The role of antioxidants to eliminate free radicals generated just or compel hydroperoxide decomposition, preventing a chain reaction carried out. You can eliminate free radicals antioxidants aromatic amine and hindered phenol compounds and derivatives thereof, called the primary antioxidant; decompose hydrogen peroxide antioxidant with phosphorus and sulfur-containing organic compounds, called secondary antioxidants.


Phenolic antioxidants: some phenolic compounds having a sterically hindered. They can eliminate free radicals generated in the organic compound thermal oxidation process, known as primary antioxidants.
